England Karate Kan (Association) held the first kata course of 2010 this weekend, which was well attended by many junior members of the Association. The three-hour course enabled the students to learn and practice new kata ahead of the upcoming grading, scheduled for 21st February.
After a warm up, the students revised stances and blocks that form the basics of any kata. The Instructors – Sensei’s Enzo, Howard, Dan, Michael, Claire, Paul and Charlotte – then split the students according to grade and age to give more specialized training on each kata.
The course culminated with all those in attendance reviewing their previous kata and performing the new kata learnt on the course. All the students concentrated throughout and benefitted from the training session. The Association Instructors were impressed with the students, as was Chief Instructor, Sensei Enzo.
A great start for 2010.
