England Karate Kan (Association) held the 3rd England Karate Kan Challenge recently, a competition which intends to bring together friends of the Association and also to encourage our less experienced karate-ka to compete and practice karate beyond the dojo.

A successful event, the competition proved popular and was well attended with over a hundred and fifty entries. Categories ranged from individual kata and kumite, to pairs kata, team events and slam man for the younger competitors.

Gaining experience as Association judges were the Instructors from the various Associations in attendance. The EKK Staff were also on hand before, during and after the event to ensure its smooth running and success.

Chief Instructor Sensei Enzo Quirino was pleased with the day and commented of the 2009 Karate Kan Challenge;

'First of all I would like to thank all those who helped to set up on Saturday night ready for the competition on Sunday. Sunday's competition was primarily organised for EKK students, although we invited some friends to make it a bit more competitive. We at EKK would like to thank every one that supported the 3rd EKK Karate Challenge Coaches and competitors , we hope to mantain the legacy of the Karate Kan Challenge to enable our less experienced Karate Ka to experience more local competition in the future'.
